Sad tidings...
Today our beloved dachshund, Fritz, died of what appears to have been a massive stroke. He was feeling fine and enjoying life right up until the stroke hit, and he died shortly afterwards. He was in no pain and did not suffer.

Fritz originally belonged to my grandmother, but came into our care four years ago after he experienced a spinal cord injury. He recovered from the injury, although he always had a gimpy walk from that point onward. He was a stubborn, pushy, whiney brat with a great sense of humor, an endless desire to snuggle, and a lot of nerve.

He will be missed.

Favorite memories:

Fritz singing (well, howling) and doing the Dachsund Dinner Dance in an attempt to get us to feed him more promptly.

Fritz burrowing into a blanket to take a nice, warm nap.

Fritz running up and down the hallway with a treasured squeaky toy, making all the noise he possibly could.

*hugs* Pets are such a big part of the family and a lot people never really realize it until they're gone. Our neighbor's dog died of lung cancer (lung cancer!) a few months ago and it was a very sad time for the whole family.

*extra hugs*

Condolences on this loss of a family member. I'm sure he will be very greatly missed indeed.

May he wait for you at the Rainbow Bridge.

I'll never forget the first time I saw Fritz -- doing a very fast wheelbarrow up the stairs with you running after him and holding his rear legs...

Nothing seemed to slow that boy down!

May he be scampering through the meadow, chasing rabbits (catch and release of course) and thoroughly enjoying himself.

Hugs to you and yours. Love you

*hugs* Even three thousand miles away I fell sad. I loved Fritz. I remember the time I was at your house and he kept barging into the bedroom, determined to be snuggled and pet. He was a very lovable dog. (Seeing as how I'm afraid of most dogs, this is a high compliment.) I'm really sorry. *hugs again*

I am so sorry. Fritz was so sweet. I second Pondside's memory of the wheelbarrow run up the stairs. Many hugs from here.
